Institute of Texan Cultures

Learning about life on the open trail.  The students really connected with the lifestyle of sleeping outdoors, eating repeated meals of beans, biscuits and bacon. They could recall a lot of information from class.

Students were amazed to learn about the importance of the US Postal Service, even the possibility of getting chickens in the mail.

The size of a small home was quite impressive, but students were awed by the application of paper mache on the log cabin walls to keep out small bugs and insects; the same recipe used in class to make other paper mache projects.
