Food Day
1. Over the past few weeks we have been building up a lot of energy for the celebration of Food Day. We have studied a lot about smart food choices, what ingredients are included in our favorite dishes, and how to use moderation in selecting our daily foods. We have discussed that eating our favorite foods is all right, as long as we choose them in moderation. When we use good limits in our food choices, we can have a not so healthy lunch, as long as we choose a more healthy breakfast or dinner. Ideally, we can make healthy choices at every meal, and hopefully with every snack.
2. Now, let's look some other information on this website about health, food choices and even recipe options. First, we will look at the six important elements of nutrition. Click here so that we can read as a class about how to get the proper amounts of fats, carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins and minerals.
3. In our groups, we have spoken about the idea of making healthy substitutions in our food choices. Have you ever noticed that you make a healthy food choice every morning with the milk provided to you by the school? Well, the milk that we drink at school is Skim milk, or 1% milk. This helps us reduce the amount of unhealthy fats and limit the number of calories that we consume. Follow this link for a list of each ways to make substitutions in many of our daily menu choices. 4. For those of you who are working well and staying on track, here is a website to help you see how much of each food group you should eat each day, and suggestion on where to get those good nutrients.
