This week we are going to expand our use of and understanding of measurement. Everyday we make all types of measurements, and many times we probably do so without thinking. You measure the distance from your car the front door of the school, wishing that your ride would get you close to the door so you can save some steps. You measure the amount of milk that will go into your cereal bowl, so that Mr. Frisch won't get upset about making a mess on your desk. These are just a few of the informal, routine measurements that we make everyday.
But these measurements are very informal or more like guesses. In our Math lessons this week, we will talk about more exact and accurate measurements. It's important that your know about making these correct measurements to that you can apply your knowledge of measurement to science, cooking, medicine, art, music and other careers that you may consider in as you get older.
