Happy Valentines Day

1. Today we are going to mix two parts of our classroom into the same lesson.  Over the past few weeks we have been discussing ecosystems, animal interactions, prey v. predator relations, and ways that human beings should care for nature.

Now we are going to look at the similar patterns of ecosystems around the world.  Think back to September and our lessons about the equator.  Remember how this line divides the entire globe in half. Also, recall how this center part of the globe is the warmest area of our world.

Well, if you are thinking ahead, you can start to imagine that is this band stretches around the entire globe, then weather along this track should be pretty similar.  Click on the world map link below to see a close up of a map showing similar ecosystems around the world, based on how close they are to the equator and how far away they may be.

2. Because we are always very health conscious here at SASIC, we are celebrating Valentines Day with an emphasis on the health side of life.  Our school wide "Affairs of the Heart" event today will give us new insights into the importance of healthy eating and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.  The link below will give you, and your family, they opportunity to explore some heart healthy recipes.
